The Banking Regulation Act was amended in 1993 and permitted the entry of new private-sector banks in the Indian banking sector. After 1991 reforms so many corporate companies and institutions were keen to set up a bank. Due to this as of now there are nearly 50 Private Sector, Foreign and Cooperative banks operating in India. As Banks grow in number there is a huge requirement of man power in the banking sector. As service conditions, salary packages, allowances and other benefits in Private sector banks are very equal and sometimes high when compare to the public sector banks, young graduates and experienced trying to be a part of it.

Private Sector and Foreign banks have been using various recruitment methods since inception to deploy people in its branches. Some offer high packages to experienced personal from other banks and some conducted recruitment tests and campus drives. They offer unmatched career growth, where one can grow by his own talent and touches the sky. Private Sector Banks offer huge emoluments and salaries to the candidates. The selection criterion in Private Banks is purely based on the performance, experience and educational qualification.

Recently most of the Public and Private Banks in India, adopted the new programme of selection and training to groom potential candidates by providing high end banking training. Apart from the conventional selection process these banks recruited and trained their employees for a year or two in the academies (such as Manipal Global Education Services, Amity Global Business School) which are in collaboration with the banks. These academies impart knowledge and skills in core banking, specialized areas in banking besides managerial skills, etiquette, grooming and language skills. The programme consists of classroom sessions, e-learning, internship and On-the-Job-Training.

These programs are cashless bridges to the aspirants those who wants to grow professionally in Banking and Financial sector. Banks either provides Financial Assistance to the candidates in the form of loans (which would be paid in EMIs later) or gives a choice of self financing. The candidates who successfully completed the classroom training and internship will be awarded with “Post-Graduate Diploma in Banking and Finance” degree, where either they can join the bank after 1 year or continue further studies (second year) in same discipline.
